Half way there!

So after some serious fundraising efforts through baking, Zumba classes, tutoring and GoFundMe, I have now raised £790 of my £1500 goal!

Now that I’m feeling far less trepidation about raising the full amount I can relax a bit more. There’s still raffles and quiz nights planned, and hopefully will sell some more resources on TES. But for now, I’m doing ok with baking (these choc chip cookie dough stuffed cupcakes were commissioned by a colleague to encourage his Higher class to keep working hard)

Our first pre-departure training weekend is only three weeks away, and I now know who my fellow teachers will be - all becoming more real! Looking forward to learning more about the program, how we’ll be operating within the country and the schools, and also hopefully some Rwandan cooking (yes I’m very aware how food driven I am).

Lastly, I’ve started doing some language learning - by forcing the kids to learn it with me! This is this week’s challenge (aiming to have a new phrase to be used each week). This is the closest translation I could get to “can/may I go to the toilet?” - more than happy to accept a more accurate translation if anyone is willing to provide it!

That’s it for now - nurse appointment on Friday to get the jabs started (or certainly organised!), and soon to start work on my Rwandan history unit.

Ngaho!
